10 Must Have Apps for iPhone

1. Dropbox

Dropbox is a great cloud service that automatically syncs a folder of files between multiple computers (Windows, Mac, or Linux). This app extends Dropbox to the iPhone and includes a built-in reader within the app for PDFs, image files, and Microsoft Office files.

2. Evernote

Once you get used to typing on a virtual keyboard (and it honestly took me over a year to do it), then these devices are great for note-taking, and Evernote is a great note-taking app. It is similar to Dropbox in that it saves data locally but syncs it across all your machines and devices.

3. 2Do

There are a ton of to-do apps on iPhone but I prefer 2Do because of the great interface and the fact that it can sync with the online service Toodledo.

4. Tripit

I love Tripit. It is by far the best app I’ve found for keeping track of all my travel itineraries. It runs off some great backend systems. You simply forward your confirmation emails for your flights, hotels, rental cars, and more to Tripit and it automatically organizes them into trips with all your details and confirmation numbers.

5. Analytics App

For some reason Google doesn’t have an official app (for either iPhone or Android) for Google Analytics. The best one I’ve found to get deep into all of the data is Analytics App.

6. Ego

Even better than Analytics App for a quick-glance dashboard is Ego. It shows basic data from Google Analytics as well as a bunch of other sources, including Squarespace, Twitter, and Feedburner.

7. Twitter

The official Twitter app (formerly known as Tweetie) is still the best Twitter client on iPhone (although Osfoora is catching up), and Twitter is an amazing instant-intelligence engine.

8. MobileRSS

Twitter has largely replaced RSS for me for finding and filtering the latest news. However, I still track some RSS feeds and the best tool I’ve found to do it with is MobileRSS Pro, because of its clean UI and integration with Google Reader.

9. ProPublica

I don’t use many specific publication apps to get news. I mostly get news from Twitter and RSS, but the one major exception is ProPublica, the non-profit investigative journalism site. Excellent reporting and a very good app.

10. Amazon Kindle

I never warmed up to the Amazon Kindle e-reader, but I’m a big fan of the Kindle iPhone app. Since it was released I’ve read a lot more books simply because my phone is always with me and I can pull it out and read a few pages anytime.

12 Years Of Google

We are all used to seeing Google’s homepage logo change throughout the year, depending on what event is being staged at that time. It could be a logo at Halloween, Christmas, Father’s Day,New Year. But today its their own occasion, we will see an image of a “Birthday Cake”. This is to celebrate Google’s 12th Anniversary.

There has been a little confusion as to exactly when Google’s birth date is? In the past the search engine has celebrated on September 7, and although its domain was officially registered on September 15 1997, reports have suggested that today, September 27, is the day that we can show our appreciation for Google.

The huge search engine serves as an information and advertising service to millions of users each day, and since its release, the site has now added Gmail e-mail software, social networking tools and Orkut. As well as this, Google have extended its service to the desktop with applications such as “Google Chrome” web browser, “Picasa” photo software and “Google Talk Instant Messaging”.

It also ventured into Smartphone OS Market With its 'Android' which is 2nd in the market already, the list goes on and its sure that there is lots more to come, So lets hope Google keeps us saying 'Wow!' forever.

Happy 12th Birthday to Google!

5 Things You Didn’t Know About the New Twitter.com

1.The code name for the new launch was Phoenix (Kind of funny when you think of the metaphorical bird rising from the ashes. As long as in this metaphor the ashes are the fail whale.)

2.The new Twitter.com is a full Twitter client using the company’s APIs. It was built on the @anywhere platform, which helps pull information about profiles and other data in order to be displayed in JavaScript.

3.The new Twitter.com doesn’t include user streams — the real-time updates of tweets that clients like TweetDeck are now offering — but Twitter is working to add this.

4.Another big platform project, Annotations, has been put on hold, because the infrastructure team was working on the New Twitter.com launch.

5.On the new Twitter.com, when you click on a tweet in the left pane, in the right pane you’ll see things like tweets with the same hashtag, or tweets in the same conversation, or tweets in the same place. That’s part of a separate product made by its own team at Twitter called Related Tweets. At some point in the future, Related Tweets will be available for other Twitter clients, including those from outside providers.

4 Ways Microsoft Can Pull Apple's Plug

'iPad Killer'

A potential iPad killer with really cool things and cashing in on iPad's shortcomings is the best way to do it, for instance a Tablet with USB drive will surely mock the iPad,after all iPad is one huge iPod Touch and virtually nothing more,if Microsoft can pull this off and become the leader in Tablet PC market, then there is no stopping them.

Windows Smartphones with Smartness

Windows phone is the biggest flop from Microsoft and has tarnished its Image in a huge way, there is a immediate need for Microsoft to turn it around by dumping same old looks and features and innovating a little atleast. An iPhone killer is what Microsoft needs very badly.

An iOS Competitor

The Windows Phone 7 in no way is a competitior to the iOS 4 and it makes no sense whenn Microsoft comes up with the same old nonsense but labels it is as Windows Phone 7, there has to 'landscape' changes to make a mark in the tough battle in Smartphone OS marketshare with top notches like iOS and Android.

Innovation in Addressing User Needs

Over the years the USP of Microsoft's success has been their skill in rendering exactly what an user needs and innovating in making it better. But all of a sudden in last few years they fell short of doing this and made a mess of things in their new releases. A serious change in this trend is the only way forward.

There no stopping Google and its Innovations, it continues to impress one and all, Fact of the matter is that it is here Stay and Rock.

3 Best Alternatives For Internet Explorer [And Why?]

The stories on how each of you hate IE in your own way never ends, here are 3 browsers which will make you dump IE

1.Mozilla Firefox

The Most Trusted and the one with Most Users is Really a Comprehensive browser. The USP of Firefox is its thousands of 'Add-ons' which lets you have Fun and Geekier Browsing Experience. The next thing is that Firefox is a 'Complete' browser with very good JavaScript support and faster page loading, And to add to that it is secure browser with absolutely no loopholes.

2.Google Chrome

This browser from the Internet giant Google is the is the one to watch out for, with its simplicity and clever design, overall support makes it real contender for Firefox. Its Support for JavaScript is awesome, thus it makes Social Networking faster and not to forget that its a Cloud browser,so you can call it the Most Secure browser. Something that will make you say 'Wow!!' is that it is the Fastest browser along with Opera. The Add-ons support is really good as well. So a browser that you should try.

3.Opera

Opera is a 'Mixed-bag' ,it has its ups and downs. It is the joint fastest browser as mentioned earlier, But still it lacks on fronts like JavaScript and 'engaging' Add-ons. But still it does things that other browsers dont do,for instance this feature is 'Wow!!' stuff for sure: You can host a file in your PC and let your buddy download it, or even you can access content from your PC when you are on the move and thereby you can play a server with 'Opera Unite' that is offered by Opera.

5 Of The Best Free iPhone Apps

1. Facebook

Once an ugly looking, but now - as of version 3 - a social-network-aware swan, Facebook is a triumph. The revised grid-based 'home screens' provide speedy access to regularly visited sections (news feed, notifications, and so on) and pages, and the experience is such that it in many ways beats the browser version.

2. Gorillacam

Pretty much from nowhere, Gorillacam arrived in December 2009 from the creators of the Gorillapod tripods. It mashes together a slew of features to hugely improve an iPhone's camera (timer, multi-shot, spirit-level, on-screen grid, 'press anywhere' capture), meaning you can bin a half-dozen standalone apps that offer similar things.

3. RunKeeper Free

The prospect of Nike+ but better and for free might sound unlikely, but that's what RunKeeper Free provides. The app uses an iPhone's GPS capabilities to track your jogging route, and provides mapping and details of pace and calories burned. Activities can be shared online, and treadmill runs can be entered manually.

4. Skype

It's imperfect and annoyingly lacks push notifications, but Skype is still an essential download. The interface is pleasingly simple and usable, enabling anyone with a Skype account to make free calls to other Skype users and cheap calls to anywhere in the world. If you're on Pay and Go, this is particularly handy, but the app also enables iPod touch users to utilise their devices for calls.

5. TonePad

Virtual pianos and guitars are all very well, but purely digital musical toys are more suited to Apple handhelds. TonePad is the best of them, using a grid-based interface that enables you to turn notes on and off and compose pleasing and harmonious loops; your creations can be edited, saved and uploaded to share with other users.

5 Reasons Why Facebook Wins Hearts

Here are some reasons why Facebook is a Winner,

1.Let me begin with the prime reason which is its charm and simplified sophistication(Except Privacy Settings). There is enough glam quotient in its outlook to attract teens and enough simplicity to engage older ones. There is no option for you to have a desired background or theme, But still it wins hearts with its bluish elegant charm.

2.The next thing is its Social Gaming, which in my view is the biggest thing that attracts teens(In most cases). Farmville is one good example it has millions of people addicted, And the exclusive Social Gaming websites tell the story, And the apps that are offered are good as well, may be not as good and as open as the ones offered by Twitter but still good enough.

3.Next reason is a technical one related to the design of Facebook, All Tech Geeks are aware of the fact that Facebook.com uses 3rd Generation PHP language scripting along with usual Java Script, Now the point is PHP makes the site loading extremely faster(people with slow internet connection will know this). It makes those impatient people and people using slow connection Facebook loyalists.

4.It is not only the largest social networking site in the planet, but also the most stable social networking site unlike Twitter or MySpace,Twitter spills whales when it fails and MySpace goes down so often. But one can't associate that with Facebook, the secret behind Facebook's stability is its 10,000 Servers which is ideal for its 500 Million user base.

5.If you are the one looking for ways to kill time, then there is one easy way, it is to use Facebook, you can do a lot from chatting with sweet hearts to playing games, sending invitations for anything and everything, and there is no limit for fun. Its no wonder that Facebook has overtaken Google in total amount of time spent on Internet.

3 Things that Twitter can take from Facebook's 'Success Story'

1.'Like Tweet'

'Like' option on Facebook is something that has become so popular unlike the 'Favorite' option on Twitter which is a disaster on my view, It would be better if Twitter dumps 'Favorite' and goes for the 'Like Tweet' option, this would also make a huge difference on the way we tweet and would make a revolution of sorts similiar to what the RT made.

2.Farmville

Hahaha, Well its not rocket science, by the word 'Farmville' i mean Social Gaming, social gaming on facebook has come a long way and made itself a prime reason for many to be on facebook besides other reasons, Another strong sign is the exclusive social gaming sites that are emerging. If Twitter can have a social gaming section it would make life difficult for Facebook and can make Mark Zuckerberg sweat for the response it will win.

3.Geeky Interface

Next vital thing is the graphical interface which is a eye catcher on Facebook. Twitter lacks that charm which Facebook has,But having said that the #NewTwitter on the Pipeline is said to offer a lot, hope it brings the much needed charm that Twitter needs very badly. I expect nothing short of a Geeky Interface on #NewTwitter. Many would argue that a 'Geeky Interface' is the end dummies on twitter(most oldies are on twitter for its Simplicity),but a 'Geeky Interface' is one which gives 'Simplicity in a Geekier way'.

5 Best Twitter Apps For Android

Twitter For Android [Free]

This is the official application for accessing Twitter from your Android mobile device. Developed by Twitter themselves, it is the most comprehensive application on the market considering it was developed by the creators of Twitter. This has everything the average socialite would ever need as well as having the features Power Users will crave.

HootSuite [Paid & Free]
Price: US $2.99

This is the next best thing if users out there aren’t interested in an official application for Twitter. Hootsuite enables users to manage multiple Twitter accounts, as well as being a dashboard for many social media outlets. It contains the usual suspects; Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn and Foursquare but also allows room for lesser used networks or hubs such as Ping.fm and WordPress (just added). Since being designed for the Android, HootSuite has trimmed down the interface and as of right now the user is able to only post tweets. This client is available to all versions of Android including the latest FroYo build. You should also note that the free version does not include stats and is limited to 3 accounts.

Twidroid [Paid &Free]
Price: US $3.99

With Twidroid being claimed as the “industry's standard twitter client”, this app has a lot to live up to. With such high hopes comes a high feature base including but not limited to, the ability to add plugins, edit lists, native bit.ly support and tweet outbox incase you are disconnected from your network. These features will only be available on the paid version but the price would be well worth it just for the ability to use plugins.

Seesmic [Free]

Seesmic has focused its efforts on a whole suite of tools that can pull information from many social networking sites and present it to you in an easy to read format. This has been brought to the Android OS in a more minimalistic yet crisp interface. Unlike the iPhone version, the client for Android can only add Twitter usernames and note Facebook profiles and the like. Everything is presented in a straightforward manner at the top of your screen, with the ability to switch from your timeline, replies, messages, and your profile. If the red bar at the top of the page is pressed and you are anywhere on the page but the top, the screen will move to the starting position.

Touiteur [Paid & Free]
Price: €1.99

Not to be fooled by its French name, this is among the top Twitter clients today. Designed by LevelUp Studio’s it boasts a clean beautiful interface that could rival the iPhones classic user interface (UI). This app does come with a free and paid version so it’s key to note what you would like from this client. The paid version will unlock multiple accounts, 3 widgets for home screen, URL shortening, customization, and viewing webpages and multimedia within the program.

First consumer digital cameras were released by Apple in 1994 and were named as QuickTake. iPod Touch 4G,Does It Impress? [Review]

My Take On The Next Generation iPod Touch

Watch Out For:

A major update to Apple’s most versatile iPod is, adding twin cameras, a high-resolution 960x640 screen, a microphone, a bigger and longer-lasting battery, and a 3-axis gyroscope, amongst other features. Now capable of video calling using FaceTime, high-definition video playback and storage, and recording of 720p movies with the rear camera. New body design is slimmer and lighter than before while remaining solid in the hand. Remains capable of great audio performance, including better speaker quality.

Compromise On:

New screen and cameras fall noticeably short of iPhone 4 performance levels. Weak still camera performance is a particular issue on all models; lowest-end model has jumped $30 in price while remaining stuck at an increasingly objectionable 8GB/6.5GB of storage capacity. New front design isn’t as comfortable around the edges as on prior models; glass continues to attract smudges at a brisk pace. Earphones no longer include integrated microphone and remote control features.

Price: $229 (8GB), $299 (32GB), $399 (64GB)

Verdict: Go For The 32GB Version..
